Maboloka HIV and AIDS Awareness Organization (MAHAAO)

Grantee Information: 

MAHAAO is a non-profit organization (NPO) in North West Province established in 2001. Their focus is providing home based care and inpatient care programs for the community. MAHAAO goal is help restore and maintain the community’s health standards by encouraging positive attitudes and responding to the changing needs of the families. MAHAAO has also operates an in-patient facility, caring for the terminally ill. They provide end of life, respite and palliative care for the patient as well as counselling, care and support services for their families. MAHAAO is an accredited antiretroviral (ARV) treatment site.

Purpose: 
1) educating the community of Maboloka and surrounding areas on tuberculosis (TB) and HIV information; 2) identifying TB cases at awareness campaigns and events; 3) improving TB and HIV treatment adherence and directly observed treatment short- course (DOTS); 4) and providing the community multi-drug resistance (MDR) and HIV counseling and Testing services to the community and local health institutions.
