St. Francis Hospice

Grantee Information: 

St. Francis Hospice was established in 1986 to provide hospice services in Port Elizabeth. In 1996, they expanded their palliative care services to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and Kouga communities and informal settlements. St. Francis Hospice accredited by the Council for Health Service Accreditation of South Africa and a founding member of the Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa. St. Francis Hospice also serves as the Centre for Palliative Learning (CPL) Training Centre for EasternCape hospices and communities. www.stfranciscarecentre.co.za

Purpose: 
To reduce the burden of drug resistance (DR) – TB in the NMBM district, Eastern Cape. Their goals include: 1) improving adherence to treatment of DR – TB patients 2) improving DR TB/HIV integration; and 3) strengthening social mobilization in 26 clinics in 3 sub-districts of NMBM.
